Spring Snowfall

So, in a matter of 4 days we went from hunting Easter eggs...to a Friday morning storm that gave us about 3 inches of snow. I know most of you in downtown Boston had only rain, but up here on the North Shore we awoke to the tranquil beauty of what he hope is the last snowfall of the year. I captured this shot of our little wedding chapel birdfeeder at about 7am this morning.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! We spent the day at Linnea's grandparent's in Burlington. Nothing like a big maple-cured ham to start the Spring off right! :)

Linnea made the fun cupcakes you see below and she gave me this adorable card too!

Belle Mer

Linnea and I went down to Newport, RI last Saturday for a couple of client meetings. (Take a look at Sunday's and Monday's posts below for even more photos from the day.)

One of Linnea's brides is getting married at Belle Mer in Newport this summer. It's located on Goat Island, which is just off the mainland and faces Naragansett bay. I had never been and was impressed with the simple elegance of the place. It feels like a mix of Newport, Miami, and The Hamptons all in one. There are huge windows which let in amazing light, a cool fireplace, beautiful arches, and a great outdoor area for ceremonies. The only thing missing is more property so the photographer and the couple can get away for some more intimate photos.

Belle Mer is owned by Longwood Events, who run the State Room and Veronique. Here are few photos I grabbed during our tour....

Happy St. Patrick's Day

To celebrate St. Patty's Day, I present to you...the AMAZING green door! If you've read yesterday's post, you know that while wandering the streets of little East Greenwich, RI on Saturday I stumbled upon this sweet spot. All the elements were there....a quiet alley, great diffused light, a ledge to sit on, and this vibrant green door! It would be incredible for an engagement shoot or trash the dress session. Too bad I didn't have anyone to shoot...and don't think that I didn't consider pulling a random couple off the street. ;)

Alas, I shot the door in it's unadorned state....which you have to agree is quite spectacular! Enjoy the shots and let's hope that someone is giving this door some St. Patrick's Day love today. :)

A day in Newport and East Greenwich, RI

Linnea and I took a little trip down to Rhode Island on Saturday. One of her brides is getting married in Newport this summer and they had appointments to visit the florist and the wedding venue. So while they were talking bouquets & centerpieces, I took the opportunity to walk around funky downtown East Greenwich, RI and take some fun shots! If any of my fellow wedding photogs are ever in the area to shoot an engagement session, I found the perfect little spot for a few shots. Hint: it's in an alley and it's green! I'll post photos tomorrow.

We next headed to Newport to visit the wedding venue, Belle Mer. What a spectacular place to hold a wedding. It has the feel of Newport, Miami, and The Hamptons all wrapped into one. I took some great shots that I'll post in a couple days.

Linnea has another wedding in Newport this summer at the Rosecliff mansion... so we took a drive along Bellevue Ave. to check it out. Talk about impressive! I'm gonna have to tag along as the "wedding planner's assistant" on that one. ;) And to cap off the day, we did some window-shopping around downtown Newport and then had a GREAT dinner at the Cooke House restaurant. We were exhausted by the time we got back home around 8, but it was well worth it! Below are a few of my "walkin' around" East Greenwich and Newport shots...

It was sitting on the mossy steps of the house with the red door above.

Boston PUG

We all had a great time at the Boston PUG (Pictage User Group) meeting last night! Yet again, Enna and Matt Grazier were wonderful hosts and they gave away some amazing prizes. I actually won a free spot at David H. Wells' workshop on Copyright and Stock Photography Workflow! {Hey Matt...I'm psyched and I'll see you there!}

And the always-fantastic Eric Laurits was the featured speaker of the night. He first presented some of his inspiring and emotional images & then gave us a great walk-thru of his new ShootQ workflow. {Nice work :e:!} ShootQ is really going to help photographers get back to doing what they love most... making amazing images and building relationships with their brides and grooms.

The Liberty Hotel

Linnea and I were recently invited to a party at the new Liberty Hotel, Boston. What an impressive & unique piece of architecture...and an amazing place for a wedding reception!

The hotel is carved out of a 19th century jail located at the foot of historic Beacon Hill. The amazing central atrium soars 90 feet in the air and contains a hoppin' lobby bar, 3 levels of exposed catwalks, and 4 beautiful circular widows. Plus off the atrium there's also the hotel restaurant, Clink and a nightclub, Alibi.

They've preserved much of the jail's original "charm", as you can see from some of quick photos I snapped w/ my iphone....

Booq Bag

I've always loved the bags at BooqBags.com. They're great to look at, ergonomically designed, and have all sorts of nook and crannies for your gadgets. They also have an ingenious system called Terralinq. Each booq bag carries a unique item number on a metal label. Should your bag be reported as lost & found, Terralinq will attempt to contact you with the bag's location and the finder's contact information!

I think I may finally pull the trigger and get the Boa Slim Case...
